We are seeking live-in carers who are available to work in England on a permanent or temporary basis.


Employment is offered under contract by one of the market leading care companies in England which has been established for over twenty years.


No previous care experience is required and anyone over the age of 18 may apply. Applications from mature candidates are actively sought.

As a live-in carer you will be employed to care for a client in their own home providing companionship, care and carrying out household tasks.

Full client details provided to you prior to start.

Travel costs from any point of origin in the UK to the client.

All travel information provided to you prior to day of travel.

Paid monthly direct to your bank.

Holiday pay accrued at the rate of 2.33 days for every 30 days you work.

Totalcare Recruitment – Job Description Live in Carer



Department / Location: Based in your customer’s home for the period of duty. This will normally be within the region that you are allocated to, however you will be required to work on another region should the business need arise.


Reports to: Local Care Service Manager (LCSM)


Hours of Work: Your working hours will normally be between 8-10 hours a day over a 24 hour period, 7 days a week. However this may vary upon the needs of your customer and will be subject to change should their health or circumstances alter. You will be expected to work between 1 – 6 weeks in a row depending whether you are providing ongoing or relief support but this takes into account your needs as well as the customers. You will have at least 14 hours break time per week.


Your customer’s support plan will set out the tasks required at different times of the week/ day.


Responsible for: As a live-in carer you will be responsible for the needs of your customer as outlined in their support plan. You will deliver care based around the wants and needs of your customer; your primary aim being to assist them in living their life in the way that they want, enabling them to stay in their own home. You represent Totalcare in everything that you do and must undertake all of your duties and responsibilities in line with Totalcare  training, policies and procedures.


Salary range: £390 - £500 per week dependant upon the placement and the complexity of the customer’s needs.


Summary of position:

  • To provide support and companionship to the customer

  • To perform personal care duties in line with the customer’s needs

  • Light housekeeping and cleaning duties

  • To promote the health and wellbeing of the customer at all times

  • To prepare home cooked food according to the customer’s tastes and likes

  • To administer medication in line with the customers needs

  • To assist with moving and handling as required

  • To accurately record all activity with the customer

  • To liaise with your manager regarding any concerns or changes in your customer’s needs and to take urgent action where needed

  • To enable the customer to undertake the activities that they would like in a safe and supportive manner

  • To be focused on the needs of the customer at all times

  • To take the customer to any appointments, hospital visits etc

Your attitude and approach to your customer and role are vital to being a carer at Totalcare. If you are not able to demonstrate the Totalcare values in your work this isn’t the place for you! We can train you with all of the practical skills you need – only you can be the right kind of person

 

Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Experience is desirable but not essential. Both personal and professional experience add value to your role as a live in carer

  • All carers have the opportunity to complete a level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (after 6 months active service). If you already have this it is a bonus but not essential to joining our team

  • Cooking skills are essential. You must be able to follow a recipe to ensure you can cook the food your customer likes

  • Confident driving is an advantage although not essential for all customer placements


You should be able to demonstrate your passion for care and for dealing with all different types of people.


This job description is intended as a guide to help you understand the role of a live-in carer. Each customer is different which means that each placement is different. You will be fully briefed on the needs of each customer before you arrive for any placement.
